Upcoming Presentations & Some Organization Ideas pin

Happy summer, everyone!  This week, I am going to tell you where I will be presenting during the 2015-2016 school year, and then I wanted to share some of the best organizational ideas I have found recently on Pinterest!  As many of you know, I am getting ready to go back to the classroom this fall after a two year leave of absence, so I will be doing less presenting during the school year than I have in the past, so I wanted to give you the heads-up on where I will be, just in case you want to plan on joining me!

Also, since I will be teaching a first/second grade combination class, I’m now looking for new ways to organize my classroom, so that’s why I have been searching all over Pinterest and pinning lots of ideas.  We have even been discussing the pros and cons of the ideas now and then on my HeidiSongs Facebook page, opens in a new tab!  If you find something great, or even just have a question you would like me to post for discussion, please feel free to message me or leave a comment, and I will be happy to post it for you!  I always post anonymously, unless asked otherwise.  That way, everyone can ask their questions freely without fear of any repercussions from bosses, administrators, parents, co-workers, etc.

Upcoming HeidiSongs Presentations

1. National I Teach First! Conference by Staff Development for Educators, opens in a new tab

Las Vegas, Nevada

July 6-9, 2015 (I will be presenting on Tuesday, July 7th ONLY this year.)
Note:  I will likely be back presenting at the I Teach K! Conference again in 2016, since they seem to rotate me with a “one year on, one year off” schedule.  And since they have me presenting at the first grade conference this year, I’ll probably be back on the Kindergarten side next time.  HOWEVER…. even if you are attending the I Teach K Conference this year, you can still attend my sessions at the I Teach First conference by just walking on in!   They don’t check for tickets unless the session is sold out, and none of mine are this year, except the Pinterest Party.

LOOK AT THIS IDEA! It's the "GREAT PENCIL CHALLENGE!" Pencils are marked with students numbers (or names). The last person to still have that pencil in the room WINS! I have to say, this is one of the BEST ideas I have seen to help kids hang on to their pencils (if you do not use community supplies, anyway!)

Tape a ribbon into the back of your interactive notebooks so that your kids can easily find the page that they were last on. Love this idea! This came from the blog Kristen's Kindergarten. She also color codes the children's notebooks with tape. Click through to her blog to read more.
